this is my 3rd night in dumaguete city. i came here for the dance xchange: international dance workshop and festival hoping for additional experiences to write abou, and wonderful memories to cherish. but i realized that i easily get bored here in dumaguete ever since i arrived. i don’t know why but the city (my birthplace and my supposedly heartland) has somehow lost a bit of its charm. in consolation, the shows for the past nights were amazing except for some poorly choreograph dance repertoires. i was particularly amazed at all the dance companies from china. but what overwhelmed me were the modern dance piece from powerdance of the philippines, the contemporary dance numbers from kahayag dance troupe from south cotabato, and the bharatanatyam and traditional malaysian dances from the aswara dancers of kuala lumpur.
